Domke F-2 Original Shoulder Bag Review

DomkeF-2 Original Shoulder Bag · Classic photojournalist canvas bag
Verdict
8.2/10

The Domke F-2 is the original photojournalist bag: soft cotton canvas, six compartments and six pockets, a removable padded bottom and the Gripper shoulder strap. Decades later it's still a favourite for event and street work.

Best for: Working photographers who want maximum lens capacity and a proven, no-nonsense design.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Huge capacity for bodies and lenses
  • Six compartments and six pockets
  • Soft and easy to work out of

Watch out for

  • No laptop space
  • Minimal padding compared with modern bags
  • Wide (43 cm) for a shoulder bag

Domke vs Cravar

The Domke carries more lenses than a Rana 13 but no laptop, and offers far less structure and protection. The Rana is the better all-rounder; the F-2 is the better pure working bag.
